Born Hobart, 1978.
Lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.
Alexi Freeman began his creative journey in Hobart, attending the University of Tasmania majoring in printmaking and sculpture whilst performing spoken word as part of the punk scene in Hobart in the mid to late 90’s. He then continued to hone his aesthetic in New York (the birth place of his father) developing his practice bridging art, fashion and costume design, before returning to Melbourne to launch his eponymous fashion label (re-established in 2006). During these two decades of artistic expression, Freeman’s unyielding determination, creative acumen and nous for (niche) business have created a strong platform from which the AF brand continues to gather momentum.

Monday – Saturday you can find Alexi *by appointment* in his natural habitat, head down bum up at his light filled studio and showroom in Fitzroy. When he’s not there, you can also find him taking time out to smell the roses, lying in fragrant grasses, cooking up a storm, practising yoga, skipping breakfast, skipping (naked), rocking out in Melbourne’s incredible live music scene, rocking out in general and putting in the hard yards for his brothers and sisters at The Tote Hotel Football Club.
